Workshops offered at two levels:

  • Beginners – Explore the foundations of Wheel Throwing

Perfect for those new to wheel-throwing or looking to reconnect with the basics, this class focuses on core techniques: clay preparation, centering, and pulling walls on the wheel. We’ll start with foundational forms like cylinders and bowls, and explore other closely related shapes such as cups, small plates, and softly rounded or tapered vessels. With clear guidance throughout, you’ll build confidence and control — laying the groundwork for your future wheel-throwing practice.

  • Beginners/Intermediate – Shaping with Intention

For those with some wheel experience, this class focuses on refining technique and exploring more distinguished forms. After a quick review of the basics, we’ll move into creating pieces with more intentional shaping—such as candleholders, pourers, plates, lidded containers, and more shaped vessel forms. The program varies slightly each time, depending on the group’s overall skill level and shared interests. You'll be guided through demonstrations and given time to practice and develop your technique as part of a supportive group setting.

With only 4–5 participants, you’ll receive plenty of focused attention and support throughout the day.

All necessary materials for the course will be provided. You can make as many pots as you'd like, with a small charge of £5 per kilo of clay for pieces you'd like to have fired, which includes glazing and firing.

Please note this is a throwing-only class. I’ll give all pieces a light trim before firing. If you’re interested in trimming your pots yourself, we can arrange a group session if there’s enough interest.

Address: Unit 44H, Leyton Industrial Village, E10 7QP

The studio is just an 8-10 minute walk from Lee Bridge Station, or you can take bus numbers 55 or 56 and get off at the nearby stop (Perth road). The W19 bus stops nearer to the studio, which you can take from Walthamstow.

Please bring your own apron, and ensure your nails are trimmed short before the class.

! This course requires at least 4 participants to run. If we don’t reach the minimum, you will be notified and offered a reschedule or refund

Refunds & Cancellations

As a small independent pottery studio run solely by me, changes can make it challenging to manage the studio smoothly. Refunds and rescheduling are only available up to 14 days before the start of the class.
